Tamil cases

In Tamil language an in between word which has no meaning of its own while interacting with the noun change the meaning of the noun is called vayTRRUmai urybu.
The vayttrumai word is called cases in English.
The in between word does not give any meaning of its own, so it is considered a character rather than a letter or a word.
There are eight different types of cases.
The first and the eith case have no separate shepe or letter that is given to them. They are the nouns in the sentence itself
First case is the subject in the sentence.
நான் ஒரு மாணவன் means I am a student . The subject of the sentence “நான்” is the first case.
The second case changes the noun in into a possessive noun or a pronoun.
என்+ஐ = என்னை
உன்+ஐ =உன்னை
In these two examples the noun “என்” will change in to possessive noun என்னை. The noun உன் will change into உன்னை
The third case has two in between words. They are (ஆல்,ஓடு)
ஆல் is an in between word that changes the noun to possessive word. The noun என் changes in to என்னால் to show the noun can do some everything. The in between word” ஓடு” makes the noun accompany something
The fourth case கு changes the noun to show the possessive.
என்+கு = எனக்கு
நீ எனக்கு தம்பி

you are my brother
You are my brother. In this sentence the noun me has turned in to my by using “கு”

உன்+ கு = உனக்கு
நான் உனக்கு அக்கா
I am your sister. In this sentence by using “கு” you has turned into your.

The fifth case words are mostly used in classical poetry. But now a days the words “விட” “இருந்து” are being used. These words interact with the noun to have a comparative form
என்னை விட நீ பெரியவன்
You are bigger than me

I am smaller than you.
In these examples the in between word,” விட” takes the place of the word “than” in English so there can be a comparison
நீ என்னிடம் இருந்து வாங்கினாய்
You bought from me.

I bought from you.
The sixth case changes a noun to a possessive to show the object. They are “அது” “உடைய

In the same way in the following example
என்+உடைய என்னுடைய
நீ என்னுடைய செல்லப்பிராணி
The word “உடைய ” changes the word “me” to “my” or “mine”.
The seventh case “இல்” “இடம்” turns the noun to a place. The in between word “இல்” is mostly used in classical poetry.
இடம்” is mostly used in present day Tamil.
என்+இடம் என்னிடம்
உன்+இடம் உன்னிடம்
