    இதுவரை நாம் பார்த்த உயிர் மெய் எழுத்துக்களும் அவற்றின் ஆங்கில ஒலி அடையாளங்களுடன் முழு அட்டவணையாக இங்கே இணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இவற்றை நன்கு அறிந்து கொண்டபின் நாம் தமிழ் சொற்களை வாசிக்கக் முடியும். புது சொற்களை வாசிக்க ஆரம்பிக்கும் போது இந்த அட்டவணை மிகவும் உதவியாக இருக்கும்.

  • ஒளகார உயிர்மெய்

    உயிர் எழுத்துக்களின் பன்னிரெண்டாவது எழுத்து “ஓள” பதினெட்டு மெய் எழுததுக்களுடன் சேர்ந்து பதினெட்டு உயிர்மெய் ஏழுத்துக்களை உருவாக்குகிறது. “ஓள”வின் ஒலியைத் தழுவி வரும். இந்த உயிர்மெய் எழுத்துக்கள் இரு மாத்திரைகள் கொண்டு ஒலிக்கும் நெடில்களாக மாறுகின்றன.

    புள்ளியை இழந்த மெய்யெழுத்தின் முன்னால் ஒற்றை கொம்பு என்று சொல்லப் படும் குறியீடு வரும். எழுத்துக்களைத் தொடர்ந்து ள வடிவமுள்ள ஒலியை நீட்டும் குறியீடு வரும்.. இந்தக் குறியீடு ள என்ற உயிர்மெய் எழுத்திலிருந்து வேறு பட்டது. இந்தக் குறிக்கு என்று தனியாக ஒலிவடிவம் ஏதும் இல்லை. ஒலி நீண்டு ஒலிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதையே இது குறிக்கிறது. இந்தஒளகார வடிவ மாற்ற விதி எல்லா மெய் எழுத்துக்களுக்கும் பொருந்தும்.

    The consonants will have the symbol called single horn preceding them. The symbol with the shape of ள will come after the consonants to indicate the elongated sound of the letter. This shape is different form the letter ள. This does not have a sound. It is nearly a shape that shows the letter has a longer sound duration.This rule applies to all the consonants.
